MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ISLAMIC BANKING AND FINANCE (MSC)

The MSc in Islamic Banking and Finance offers an in-depth education in the key areas of Islamic finance economics and Sharia from both the theoretical and applied aspects. The course modules will enable students to have a comprehensive understanding of the economic, financial, and legal environment in which providers of Islamic financial services operate. The objective of the program is to produce professionals equipped with expertise in both conventional and Islamic finance. The program is available on both a part-time and full-time basis.
A successful graduate will be able to understand the rules, principles, and practices of Islamic financial institutions. Moreover, Graduates would be able to relate theories of Islamic banking and finance to economics, finance, accounting, management, law, sharia, and other related disciplines.

Duration of Study

  • Full-Time: 2 years (4 semesters)
  • Part-Time: 3 years (6 semesters)

Eligibility

Applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution of higher learning.
English proficiency is also a must. It is essential that candidates are able to speak and write in English.

Programme Structure

A candidate is required to complete a minimum of 14 courses. This shall include 12 core courses and a maximum of 2 elective courses which would include a research dissertation in the field of Islamic banking and finance. The dissertation will be externally examined.
